Why Lean Muscle Is Key For Weight Loss
Don’t you think it is time to work smarter, not harder? I grew up playing sports and focused on strength and top performance.
Fortunately, I opted to take a weight training class in high school. Although I think I chose to take that class as a freebie that would be an easy A, it was one of the best decisions I ever made.
Lean muscle mass does a few incredible things for your body
- Keeps you lean
- It makes your resting metabolic rate higher
- It makes your clothes fit better (look better and tighter naked)
- Reshapes your body
- Improves your insulin sensitivity and energy
- Helps fight osteoporosis
What’s not to love?
Sadly, many women are unaware of this and tend to think that if they lift weights, they will get “big.” This is not the case. You have to have a particular genetic make-up (that of a male) and eat and take certain supplements if you are a woman and want to get “huge.” It will not happen if you lift weights a few times a week.
The other fear many women have before integrating strength training into their routine is that they will gain weight. Let’s break this fear down. While you may gain weight (because remember, muscle weighs more than fat), your clothes will fit better, your body will reshape, and you will look and feel more toned and better. So the excuse of “I don’t want to gain weight” is invalid.
For most of us we want our clothes to fit better, we want to be more confident, and we want to look better without our clothes on too. Strength training and building lean muscle mass do this better than any other activity.
I truly believe when you pair proper eating with cardio and strength training, you can transform you body. And for those super stubborn pockets of fat that won’t budge no matter what you do, utilize the CoolSculpting technology to permanently eliminate 20-30 percent of the fat cells in the area treated.
Three Essentials for Weight Loss
Nearly 90% of all new year’s resolutions deal with health. Regardless if someone wants to lose weight, get in better shape, stop drinking soda, or even quit smoking, it’s clear that most people at year’s end want to make the next year one in which they feel and look better.
Every year there is so much controversy about what one should eat or not eat to lose weight and shed fat, what types of workout routines an individual should engage in to see the best results and many other topics where an individual can find 20 articles singing the concept’s praise and another 20 pieces talking about how the idea is utterly foolish.
What is an individual to do, if they genuinely want to step into their best body and regain health, self-confidence and a sense of pride in their body?
I think the biggest mistake is that people find a plan that works for them and then they sell it and tell everyone they should do it and they will get the same results.
This is not true. We are all built differently and impacted differently by foods and exercises. So while eating a lot of protein may work wonders for the girl next store, perhaps it’s not what you need to lose those extra pounds and say adios to stubborn fat.
That said, there are three essentials for weight loss no matter who you are, they work. Of course, everyone needs to tweak and refine these essentials to fit their specific needs.
So here they are, three essentials for weight loss.
Consumption of protein, fat and vegetables. – Yes, you heard me right, FAT. It would be best if you ate fat to lose fat. There is a lot of confusion about fat, and it has gotten a bad reputation. Not all fat is created equal so you must eat the right fats in the right amounts to lose fat successfully. Fats found in fish, nuts, avocado and many oils are healthy and can help you shed fat!
Protein is a building block of lean muscle. Lean muscles will help you increase your metabolism, become more insulin sensitive, burn fat and reshape your body composition. So eating healthy, organic and hormone-free protein is vital.
Vegetables are critical. They bring flavor, color and a ton of nutrients to your plate. Vegetables are “carbs” technically, so they can help you keep your energy levels high but don’t spike insulin needs and leave you feeling lethargic and drained later.
These three macronutrients, protein, fat and vegetables (healthy carbs) are critical if you want to lose weight and step into your best body indeed.
Get enough sleep. – When you are sleep deprived you can’t shed fat or pounds. Study after study has shown that you need adequate sleep for your body to work effectively and efficiently. In addition, when you are drained and exhausted, your ability to fight temptation is compromised and you may reach for that little pick-me-up that happens to be loaded with sugar, carbs and unhealthy fats.
Both cardio and strength training. You must do both. So many people skip out on weights (especially women) for fear of bulking up. Unless you overeat and take testosterone, you will not bulk up as a woman. You will build lean muscle and re-contour your body. As I said above, lean muscle fires your metabolic rate, burns fat, and helps improve insulin sensitivity.
We all know cardio is excellent for the heart and burning calories, so it is essential to any weight and fat loss program. However, cardio can be overdone. Spending hours a day on the elliptical is unnecessary to get a rocking body.
Consider high-intensity interval training. Slow and steady pace with random bursts of high-intensity sprints to get that heart rate pumping. This training can blast calories, pump your heart quickly, and give you ideal weight and fat loss results.
To help make those final tweaks to your body, a procedure like CoolSculpting can help. The body would love to have you in for a complimentary consultation and see how CoolSculpting can help you achieve the body you’ve been wanting.
In our experience, when CoolSculpting is paired with proper diet and exercise, an individual can get true body transformation.
