Our society is overwhelmingly focused on the physical: how we look from the outside. We spend a lot of money, time, and energy taking in, dissecting, and acting on the information we acquire related to weight loss and inch loss. Conversely, some must engage in weight gain. (“Oh what a nice problem that would be!”) But as different as these polar-opposite goals are—there is a common denominator.
Trim the Fat in Your Mind It isn’t Worth “Cry” ing Over
How we perceive ourselves, how we see ourselves literally in the reflection of a window as we pass by or stop for a fleeting or lengthy glance in a mirror may differ from our true physical embodiment of self. And the time this misperception is often most evident is after there is a physical enhancement realized. It could be weight loss or inch loss through diet, exercise, or CoolSculpting®. Even when we are shown physical evidence of the positive external transformation through measurement: a scale, a tape measure, a skin-fold caliper, or BMI ratios there is still the emotional component that must be fed, so to speak. If it is not addressed, we are left with body image fat where the mind has an inflated perception of the actual size of the body.
An emotional disconnect can take place during the process of inch loss. Although we can see concrete proof of our transformation, our minds may not be as accepting of the new reality. For example, consider what goes on in the mind of one who suffers from anorexia. There is a misconception about what the body is and how the mind sees the body. The body, in reality, is unhealthy and too thin but in the mind, the body is perceived as too large.
Many of our clients at Bodify experience the following after a series of CoolSculpting treatments: they do a double-take when seeing a reflection of themselves. Although they consciously know of their physical inch loss, it may take a moment or two for their mind to convert their body transformation into a newfound perception of truth.
The mind can often deliver old perceptions of self to the forefront. When we look in the mirror, we bring a certain level of expectation with it. We ‘expect’ to see the vision of ourselves that we have always seen, what we have grown accustomed to before the CoolSculpting took place. Are you Frustrated with your body? There’s a solution.
Be Open to New Possibilities With Your Body
Open up your mind and celebrate your accomplishments made through positive transformation. It will help strengthen self-confidence.
Ever since fashion model icon Twiggy hit the runways of New York and Paris and glossy covers of Cosmopolitan, Vogue, and more, women the world over have been concerned with excess body fat. According to PR Web, the US diet industry projects another $60 billion year of revenue this year, considered the “norm”. Dieting is one of America’s favorite pastimes. Behind the obsession with diet is a focus on how it may impact our physical image and our internal health. The psychology behind our incessant need to reduce the amount of fat the body carries around has obvious visual testimony. But the actual mechanics of fat—its physical attributes at the cellular level and the risk it puts on people who have too much—have weighed heavy on the minds of researchers and scientists for decades.
In March 2013, article #24049927 was published in PubMed through the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health. The article entitled, “Cryolipolysis: A Historical Perspective and Current Clinical Practice” provides a closer look at the process and evolution of fat cell reduction. Co-author Dr. H. Ray Jalian, a renowned dermatologist, focuses much of his work on the historical observations of the cold-induced process or freezing of fat. What evolved is now known as cryolipolysis, the new and improved way to target and reduce fat cells selectively.
Cryolipolysis enables a non-invasive way to remove stubborn fat from the body. Through specific applicators (varied per body part) and the CoolSculpting® technology, fat cell reduction occurs through actual fat cell death, a result of the freezing of fat. After fat cell death has been realized, these cells will, within a two-to-four-month period, be removed through the natural process of elimination from the body.
Cryolipolysis is at the forefront of medicine and fat loss procedures across the country. If you are considering cryolipolysis through CoolSculpting, make sure the practitioner is a licensed and experienced professional, as evident at Bodify®.
