The Desert Botanical Garden’s Chihuly exhibition includes both outdoor and indoor pieces, both exhibited in the gardens’ Dorrance Hall. The gardens have been working with Ballet Arizona for several years, and its outdoor stage is large enough to host several ballet performances. It has also collaborated with Southwest Shakespeare Company and CONDER/dance. The partnership is the result of a multi-year process, and a preview team from Chihuly’s Seattle studio visited the garden’s Phoenix location in September.
Volunteers essential to the creation
The Garden wouldn’t exist without the many volunteers who give their time, talents, and expertise. Volunteers help the Garden achieve its goals and maintain its status as an internationally recognized plant research institution. They also serve on the Garden’s Board of Trustees and help set policy.
The Garden’s mission is to preserve and protect the desert by promoting excellence in education, research, exhibition, and conservation of desert plants. In addition, it is committed to the study and conservation of the Sonoran Desert, the state’s largest desert area. Volunteers play a vital role in making the Garden a popular destination for Arizonans.
